Prelude   My Life Is In You, Lord         Rejuvenate

LEADER: Do not be afraid.
ALL: The storm is so great! We are perishing!
LEADER: Our God can calm any storm within us.
ALL: Save us, O God, from our fear.

Opening Prayer

ALL: God of promise, You are not a God of destruction, but of rebirth. In your love, you protect and cherish us. Your eternal promise is to renew us and lead us into flourishing. May our gratitude for your love so spill over that we, in turn, commit ourselves to the flourishing of your whole creation. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song   O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee    UMH 430

  1. O Master, let me
    walk with thee
    in lowly paths
    of service free;
    tell me thy secret;
    help me bear
    the strain of toil,
    the fret of care.

  2. Help me the slow
    of heart to move
    by some clear, winning
    word of love;
    teach me the wayward
    feet to stay,
    and guide them in
    the homeward way.

  3. Teach me thy patience;
    still with thee
    in closer,
    dearer company,
    in work that keeps
    faith sweet and strong,
    in trust that triumphs
    over wrong;

  4. In hope that sends
    a shining ray
    far down the future’s
    broadening way,
    in peace that only
    thou canst give,
    with thee, O Master,
    let me live.

Prayers of the People
Leader:  God of mercy and grace,, ALL: we lift our prayers to you.

The Lord’s Prayer (Spoken)

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Offertory            Craig Nickerson, Organist

 *Offering Response   Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow   (UMH 94)

 *Prayer of Dedication  (enfleshed)
ALL: Holy God, all of creation—all that is—comes from you and belongs to you. Free us from our attachments to our earthly possessions and receive from them these offered gifts out of what you have given us, for the ongoing work of your love for all the world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

 SENDING

 *Closing Song    Precious Lord, Take My Hand         UMH 474

  1. Precious Lord,
    take my hand,
    lead me on, let me stand,
    I am tired, I am weak,
    I am worn;
    through the storm,
    through the night,
    lead me on
    to the light:

Refrain

Take my hand,
precious Lord,
lead me home.

  1. When my way
    grows drear,
    precious Lord, linger near,
    when my life
    is almost gone,
    hear my cry,
    hear my call,
    hold my hand
    lest I fall:

Refrain

Take my hand,
precious Lord,
lead me home.

  1. When the
    darkness appears
    and the night draws near,
    and the day is
    past and gone,
    at the river I stand,
    guide my feet,
    hold my hand:

Refrain

Take my hand,
precious Lord,
lead me home.
