 Call to Worship  (Breakthrough Series)

LEADER:     Come, today may be released so that we can rest.
ALL:             We come seeking rest for our minds, hearts and souls.
LEADER:      Lay down your fears and anxieties.
ALL:             We come to release the weight that stretches us too thin.
LEADER:      God meets us here, offering rest and renewal.
ALL:             We come, ready to be restored in God's presence.

Opening Prayer (Breakthrough Series)

ALL:  Loving God, we are often stretched to our limits, trying to do it all. Today, we release into Your compassion. Renew us as we rest in Your presence, reminding us that we are already simply loved. Amen.

*Opening Song         Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior            UMH 351

  1. Pass me not,
    O gentle Savior,
    hear my humble cry;
    while on others
    thou art calling,
    do not pass me by.

Refrain

Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.

  1. Let me at thy
    throne of mercy
    find a sweet relief,
    kneeling there
    in deep contrition;
    help my unbelief.

Refrain

Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.

  1. Trusting only
    in thy merit,
    would I seek thy face;
    heal my wounded,
    broken spirit,
    save me by thy grace.

Refrain

Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.

  1. Thou the spring
    of all my comfort,
    more than life to me,
    whom have I
    on earth beside thee?
    Whom in heaven but thee?

Refrain

Savior, Savior,
hear my humble cry;
while on others
thou art calling,
do not pass me by.

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song    Be Still, My Soul    UMH 534

1. Be still, my soul:
the Lord is on your side.
Bear patiently
the cross of grief and pain;
leave to your God
to order and provide;
in every change
God faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul:
your best,
your heavenly friend
through thorny ways
leads to a joyful end.

2. Be still, my soul:
your God will undertake
to guide the future,
as in ages past.
Your hope,
your confidence
let nothing shake;
all now mysterious
shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul:
the waves and
winds still know
the Christ who ruled
them while he dwelt below.

3. Be still, my soul:
the hour is hastening on
when we shall be
forever with the Lord,
when disappointment,
grief, and fear are gone,
sorrow forgot,
love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul:
when change and
tears are past,
all safe and blessed
we shall meet at last.

Prayers of the People
Leader:  God of Rest,
ALl: hear our prayer.

Offertory        How Beautiful      Ben Boellner, Guest Organist

 *Offering Response   Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow   (UMH 94)

 *Prayer of Dedication  (Breakthrough Series)
ALL: God of abundance, as we offer these gifts, may they bring rest and renewal to those who need it most. Use them to spread Your love and peace. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Communion Sung Response UMH Setting A, Page 17

Leader: The Lord be with you.
All: And also with you.
Leader: Lift up your hearts.
All: We lift them up to the Lord.
Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

...

It is right, and a good and joyful thing …

… And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and join their unending hymn:

All: Holy, holy, holy Lord; God of power and might.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest! Blest is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest! ...

Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus Christ…

… And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died,  Christ is risen,  Christ will come again.

Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here,…

… All honor and glory is yours, almighty God, now and for ever.

...

The Lord’s Prayer (Spoken)

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Sung: Amen, Amen, Amen.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!

Amen, amen, amen

SENDING

 *Closing Song     It Is Well With My Soul       UMH 377

1. When peace, like a river,
attendeth my way,
when sorrows
like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot,
thou hast taught
me to say,
It is well,
it is well with my soul.

Refrain

It is well (It is well)
with my soul, (with my soul,)
it is well,
it is well with my soul.

2. Though Satan
should buffet,
though trials should come,
let this blest
assurance control,
that Christ has regarded
my helpless estate,
and hath shed
his own blood
for my soul.

Refrain

It is well (It is well)
with my soul, (with my soul,)
it is well,
it is well with my soul.

3. My sin, oh, the bliss
of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part
but the whole,
is nailed to the cross,
and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord,
praise the Lord,
O my soul!

Refrain

It is well (It is well)
with my soul, (with my soul,)
it is well,
it is well with my soul.

4. And, Lord, haste the day
when my faith
shall be sight,
the clouds be
rolled back as a scroll;
the trump shall resound,
and the Lord shall descend,
even so,
it is well
with my soul.

Refrain

It is well (It is well)
with my soul, (with my soul,)
it is well,
it is well with my soul.
