Prelude     Wonderful Merciful Savior      Rejuvenate

 Call to Worship  Breakthrough Series)

LEADER:      God worked, and then God rested.
ALL:             We, too, are invited into a sacred rest.
LEADER:      Rest is not a reward, but a gift.
ALL:             We come to receive that gift, to pause and be restored.
LEADER:      Let us rest in the One who created us.
ALL:             We come to rest, to reflect, and to renew. Here and now is the season of rest.

Opening Prayer (Breakthrough Series)

ALL:  Creator God, You modeled for us a sacred rhythm of work and rest. Teach us to follow Your example, to pause in the busyness and find deep rest for our souls. Amen.

*Opening Song         Cares Chorus          TFWS 2215

I cast all my cares
upon you,
I lay all of my burdens
down at your feet,
and anytime that
I don’t know
what to do,
I will cast all my cares
upon you.

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song    Spirit of the Living God    UMH 393

Spirit of the living God,
fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God,
fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me,
fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God,
fall afresh on me.

Prayers of the People
Leader:  God of Rest, ALl: hear our prayer.

The Lord’s Prayer (Spoken)

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Offertory        Craig Nickerson, Organist

*Offering Response   Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow   (UMH 94)

 *Prayer of Dedication  (Breakthrough Series)
ALL: God, as You bless our time of rest, bless these offerings. May they bring rest and renewal to others, showing Your love in practical ways. Amen.

 SENDING

*Closing Song     For the Beauty of the Earth       UMH 92

  1. For the beauty of the earth,
for the glory of the skies,
    for the love
    which from our birth
    over and around us lies;

Refrain

Lord of all,
to thee we raise
this our hymn
of grateful praise.

  1. For the beauty
    of each hour
of the day and of the night,
    hill and vale, and
    tree and flower,
    sun and moon, and
    stars of light;

Refrain

Lord of all,
to thee we raise
this our hymn
of grateful praise.

  1. For the joy of
    ear and eye,
    for the heart
    and mind’s delight,
    for the mystic harmony
    linking sense
    to sound and sight;

Refrain

Lord of all,
to thee we raise
this our hymn
of grateful praise.

  1. For the joy of human love,
    brother, sister,
    parent, child,
    friends on earth and
    friends above,
    for all gentle thoughts
    and mild;

Refrain

Lord of all,
to thee we raise
this our hymn
of grateful praise.

  1. For thy church,
    that evermore
    lifteth holy hands above
    offering up on
    every shore
    her pure sacrifice of love;

Refrain

Lord of all,
to thee we raise
this our hymn
of grateful praise.

  1. For thyself,
    best Gift Divine,
to the world so freely given,
    for that great, great
    love of thine,
    peace on earth,
    and joy in heaven:

Refrain

Lord of all,
to thee we raise
this our hymn
of grateful praise.
