 Invitation and Sharing of Peace

Peace be with you. And also with you.

Prelude   Craig Nickerson, Organist

One:   Siblings in Christ, through the waters of baptism, we are claimed, washed clean,
             and called.
Many:  We come to remember who we are and whose we are.
One:     We are called to renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers
              of this world, and repent of our sin.
Many:   We turn away from all that separates us from God and our neighbor.
One:      Let us worship the God who claims us, redeems us, and sends us forth in love.
Many:   With joy and thanksgiving, we worship God!

Opening Prayer

 ALL: God of generous love, we come before you today seeking to know you and your will. Root us in your grace. Guide us to your boldness. Claim us as your own so that we may be transformed by love and to love, today and all days. Amen.

 *Opening Song         I Love You, Lord        TFWS 2068

I love you, Lord,
and I lift my voice
to worship you,
O my soul rejoice.

Take joy, my King,
in what you hear,
may it be a sweet,
sweet sound in your ear.

RESPONDING

*Sermon Song    Lord, Speak to Me     UMH 463

  1. Lord, speak to me,
    that I may speak
    in living echoes
    of thy tone;
    as thou hast sought,
    so let me seek thine
    erring children
    lost and lone.
  1. O strengthen me,
    that while I stand
    firm on the rock,
    and strong in thee,
    I may stretch out
    a loving hand
    to wrestlers with
    the troubled sea.
  1. O teach me, Lord,
    that I may teach
    the precious things
    thou dost impart;
    and wing my words,
    that they may reach
    the hidden depths
    of many a heart.
  1. O fill me with
    thy fullness, Lord,
    until my very
    heart o’erflow
    in kindling thought
    and glowing word,
    thy love to tell,
    thy praise to show.
  1. O use me, Lord,
    use even me,
    just as thou wilt,
    and when, and where,
    until thy blessed
    face I see,
    thy rest, thy joy,
    thy glory share.

Prayers of the People
Leader:  Loving God, ALL: hear our prayers.

The Lord’s Prayer (Spoken)

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Offertory              Craig Nickerson, Organist

 *Offering Response   Praise God, from Whom All Blessings Flow   (UMH 94)

 *Prayer of Dedication  (enfleshed)
All: We dedicate our offerings to Liberating Love who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to the collective power that is at work between us. To Liberating Love be the glory for all generations, to all flora & fauna, for ever and ever! Amen

 SENDING

 *Closing Song    Love Lifted Me

Verse 1

I was sinking deep in sin,
far from the peaceful shore,
very deeply stained within,
sinking to rise no more;
but the Master of the sea,
heard my despairing cry,
from the waters lifted me;
now safe am I.

Refrain

Love lifted even me!
Love lifted even me!
When nothing else could help.
Love lifted me.
Love lifted even me!
Love lifted even me!
When nothing else could help.
Love lifted me.

Verse 2

Souls in danger, look above,
Jesus completely saves;
he will lift you by his love
out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea,
billows his will obey;
he your Savior wants to be –
be saved today.

Refrain

Love lifted even me!
Love lifted even me!
When nothing else could help.
Love lifted me.
Love lifted even me!
Love lifted even me!
When nothing else could help.
Love lifted me.
